Hand Zap is an artifact from Mayfair's More Cosmic Encounter expansion, reintroduced in the current edition in the Cosmic Incursion reward deck. It can be played before destiny is drawn, to force any player (even the player who uses it) to discard his or her hand and draw a new one. No cards may be played in response to this card except for those that would cancel its effect.

Hand Zap's text states that no cards may be played in response to this card except for those that would cancel its effect; however, FFG's 2018 FAQ states that no cards may be played in response to any card, not just the Hand Zap, except for those that would cancel its effect. This text on Hand Zap is therefore likely printed simply for emphasis and to distinguish it from compensation, where the player who must give compensation may play as many cards as they like from their hand that they can legally play before any cards are taken.
